The idea of reality TV has always been a controversial one. What is reality and how can it be depicted through the recording and editing of actual events? I do not have the answer to this question and do not attempt to answer this question through this article. I do, however, contend that I have found a reality show that reflects more honest human-ness than any other reality show. Does this in turn make it more real? Naked and Afraid on Discovery Channel seemed a ridiculous notion when I first engaged with an episode recently.
Stranded deep in the Amazon, Mykel and Ruth fight to survive the sweltering heat, venomous reptiles and a jungle that conceals its most deadly threats. Matt and Joe decide to split up in the snowy mountains of Wyoming. However, both of them soon face hypothermia and dangerous mountain lions. In the Himalayas, Joe seeks rescue from the rocky terrain and dense forest. However, Matt is more interested in achieving spiritual enlightenment than getting out alive.
Sign in. It's flood season in the Amazon, and Mykel and Ruth are stranded in a wobbly canoe. The forest floor has been largely deserted, and the pair struggle to find food.
